About River Thurso

River Thurso, in Alba / Scotland, United Kingdom, is a stream where current dictates almost everything. Rocks, undercut banks, and fallen timber are the obvious targets, but the productive water at River Thurso is often the seam between two current speeds — that's where fish wait for food to drift past. Match the size of your bait or lure to whatever insects, baitfish, or crayfish you can see in the water.

Fishing Techniques

• For Sea trout

Vary your retrieve speed and depth until you find what the fish are responding to on a given day; Sea trout can be picky.

• For Pollack

When fishing from a boat, try drifting over rocky areas and wrecks, jigging your lure close to the bottom.

• For Atlantic salmon

When fishing for Atlantic salmon, pay close attention to water depth and current, as they often hold in specific locations to conserve energy.
